About

Patrick McAlister, co-editor

After spending a year or two reading and commenting on various blogs, I am thrilled to finally be co-editing one.

I am a junior at Wabash College, with a major in Political Science and minors in History and Theatre. As you can probably see from my major and minors, political discussion is one of my passions. Wabash is a fantastic place to discuss political views of all types, as there are some people to the left of Eugene V. Debs and to the right of Otto von Bismarck. You get all flavors of thought, and (I am told) emerge from the college with quite an interesting political palette.

Aside from studying and discussing politics, I have panoply of other interests. I am an actor and have been a part of many Wabash Theatre productions. I am editor in chief of Wabash’s student newspaper, The Bachelor, and enjoy writing news and features for the paper and also for Wabash’s public affairs department. I also participate in Wabash student government, and am a member of the College Democrats (if you haven’t guessed, I’m the editor that ‘leans left’).

I am not a technical genius, and believe it is important to note that Mr. Kelty is THE person responsible for the technical upkeep of Political Equinox. He’s teaching me (albeit slowly, because I am functionally ‘e-literate’ when it comes to web design) how to operate the technical side of Political Equinox. I thank him for his patience and tutelage.

Neil Kelty, co-editor

I recently graduated from Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, IN. This fall, I’ll become a freshman at Indiana University as a Direct Admission student to the Kelley School of Business majoring in Finance and Business Economics & Public Policy. I look forward to “starting over” at Indiana, as I’ll be exposed to a whole new world of people and opportunities.

Despite my myriad of academic commitments, I somehow managed to continue to join the next activity. Throughout my high school career I was exposed to a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities. I served two terms as the Executive Vice President of the Student Council and two terms as the State Webmaster for Indiana FBLA. However, my most demanding activity was my work with the school newspaper, The Charger. I served as the Sports Editor, Business Editor, and Web Editor over a two year period

Looking down to the future, I see myself as a business owner. I have that drive to “go out and kill it.” I’ve been eyeing the consulting industry, especially in the governmental levels, but I realize I have to acquire some experience before I can leap to that industry. I also have a passion of teaching personal finance. The debt levels in the United States are becoming increasingly alarming, and I think I’ve got to do something about it.

Finally, I’m the tech behind this shop. I’ve been designing and developing websites since back in March of 2004. You can view my personal site at http://neilkelty.com.
