A New Design in Town

I know things have been awful quiet around these parts lately, but that’s because we’ve been hard at work on our new design for Political Equinox. We’ll be tweaking things over the next few weeks and there are probably quite a few parts that aren’t exactly working correctly at the moment. Be sure to let us know if you notice anything wrong and we’ll be sure to fix it right away.

I Can’t Believe I’m Saying This…


…but, I will be attending the 2008 Republican National Convention.

I will not be a delegate (ha) nor (much to my chagrin) did I get credentials for blogging. I will, however, be working for NBC as a ‘runner’. Although as of yet I do not have a real job description for the position of ‘runner’, I believe my title implies that 1. I will be doing odd jobs like getting coffee or moving something from one place to another and 2. I will be busy most of the time.

What’s in a Name?

Although referencing Romeo and Juliet is incredibly trite, it nonetheless underscores an important point - it shouldn’t matter in picking the leader of our country. In politics it helps if your name is Bush, Roosevelt, Kennedy or Rockefeller or is alliterative (Ronald Reagan, Hannibal Hamlin etc). But unless your shtick is railing against elite political families or hating repetitive letters and sounds, names usually do not have a negative affect on a politician.

That’s one nasty, bad idea there…

So one of the worst kept secrets in Fort Wayne, OK maybe not that bad, but we saw the Wizards Name Change Contest coming months ago after the news was squeaked out by a Journal Gazette reporter during a routine interview with those “Hardball Guys.”

It’s only naturally that a new ownership group considers a re-branding, but don’t you typically not re-brand successful firms? It seems to me that the Wizards continue to set new attendance records and while I still hold the opinion that the team needs to move up to Double-A and get out of the affiliation with the San Diego Padres, I think the team name is just fine.
