Indiana plays a role in Presidential Politics!?!

obama_sign.JPGIndiana hasn’t gone to a Democrat since Johnson in 1964. It hasn’t mattered in candidate selection in past presidential years because of the date of its primary. But we all know 2008 is unlike any past presidential election year in modern times.
Last night’s results in the Democratic contest in Mississippi only reemphasize the sentiments that have been discussed since the Texas/Ohio behemoth of a political contest–

Spitzer, Wall Street and Timing the Resignation

paterson.jpgAccording to literally every national news organization in America, the Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer has been implicated in a prostitution ring. There has been speculation all day that he would resign at any minute. The NY Times reported that the state was at a standstill, not really knowing if the governor would resign. Lt. Governor David Paterson (whom I saw campaigning for Hillary Clinton at an Iowa rally back in January. He’s pictured here between Cheers actor Ted Danson and Clinton National Chair Terry McAuliffe ) even told reporters he didn’t know what the Governor’s plans were, saying that he hadn’t heard from the governor since Monday.

American Electric Power Advertising

aep.jpgOver the past few months I’ve noticed a few corner ads in the front section of the Journal Gazette. Usually in 3A or 4A.

My question is this: Why is American Electric Power running advertising?

You can’t just call up another power company and switch. Maybe they think it generates community goodwill, but I think dumping the marketing budget and cutting rates would generate an awful lot more community goodwill.

Congress offers free consulting to MLB

mlb.jpgNormally, when a business is having internal issues they either have their own Internal Affairs Department come in to fix the problem or the company hires an outside consultant to study the problem.

In the case of Major League Baseball, they were provided with a third option. A free option at that! Congress.

A congressional committiee has been investigating steroids in baseball over the past few weeks. In response to the Mitchell Report, which actually turned out to be quite useless the Congress decided to use its valuble time to work on an issue so unimportant to their constituents.
