Ok, Barack: Tomorrow is your chance

I was a Mike Huckabee guy. Then Mike Huckabee dropped out and off came my bumper sticker. John McCain, while I agree with him on more positions than Barack Obama, has done little to convince me that he has the power to bring this country back to where it should be. Hopefully, he can do so.

That’s why Barack intrigues me. I’m on his mailing list and when that email came through at 3:11pm this afternoon for tickets into tomorrow’s event I was on it like a hawk. By 3:13pm, I had a pair of tickets.

Much like many other Americans, I first saw Barack when he delivered an excellent keynote address during the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He was a rising star back then, this time he is poised to be the the star of the Democratic Party.

Although, Obama is one of the most liberal senators he has positions himself as a man of unity. I believe he could be a successful president not because of his ideas, but because of his ability to motivate, to captivate, and to inspire.

You have to be careful not to get caught up into all of his ideas, but I frankly disagree with him on many fronts - but I like him. He’s a great leader.

Tomorrow, I’ll be attending his rally. I’ll be listening intently, maybe snapping a few photos along the way. I look forward to this event. This is his chance, probably not his last, to turn me into a Republican for Obama. It’s not likely and it isn’t going to take just some rhetoric by Obama, Senator McCain is going to have to work hard. At this point in the game, I’m leaning more towards McCain - but boy does Barack prove to be a hard man to vote against.

I’m certain I won’t be the only Republican in the crowd, because according to old Mr. Steve Shine - “This is McCain country.”
