CNN or MSNBC?

During these primaries, CNN and MSNBC are really the two major players for coverage. Yes, I know there is Fox News, but I just don’t consider that mainstream enough to really compete with CNN and MSNBC.

So who is better?

Website: CNN snags the trophy here. They’ve got state by state delegate analysis, excellent writing, and by golly a much better design. I’m always certain to hit up CNN.com for my political news.

Commentators/Analysts: MSNBC takes this category. Even if you don’t like the guys you have to admit that this team is obviously better. How can you beat it? Brian Williams, Tim Russert, Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews.

Calling States: CNN jumps early on this call. Hmm…sound like a pattern. CNN repeatedly beats NBC News to projections in states. Although, it’s often just by a minute or two, in the world of journalism, every second counts.

Data Reporting: CNN trumps MSNBC in this category. CNN is always on the county by county results, the exit polling. They do especially well on the data analysis online, but they are certain to include this data on their television coverage.

So who has better coverage overall? Sorry to go with a cop out here, but its really a matter of personal preference. Although, its probably really a matter of whether or not you can stand Chris Matthews.

In terms of information and statistics, its CNN. In terms of commentary and discussion, I’d have to give the nod to MSNBC.

This pulls quite well to my setup. When I want to know “numbers,” I hit up CNN’s Website, but when I want to hear some good discussion and analysis, I’ll head over to MSNBC.

Who do you like?
