As I type this Barack Obama has walked on stage and is giving his acceptance speech. All I can think of right now I wish I was at Invesco Field.
That however, was impossible. I couldn’t start school, help put out the first issue of the Bachelor, my school paper and attend the convention at the same time (although I most definitely would if I could).
So I’m settling for the next best thing. Tomorrow I will be driving ten hours to Minneapolis-Saint Paul for the Republican National Convention. I’ll be working for NBC as a “runner.” Although there really wasn’t …
Mayor Tom Henry, along with Councilman Mitch Harper & Councilwoman Karen Goldner, were present today at a press conference introducing some new additions to downtown Fort Wayne. I drove past the press conference on my way back from lunch and wondered what was going on (You can’t exactly just stop on Calhoun Street though.). Thanks to WANE TV for finally filling us in.
These additions to Fort Wayne are an interesting and creative asset, but they are just the start to improving our downtown and bringing the people back. The city should consider selling advertising on the chairs. Much to the disappointment of many Journal Gazette letter to the editor writers these are not named “Harrison Chairs.”
So one of the worst kept secrets in Fort Wayne, OK maybe not that bad, but we saw the Wizards Name Change Contest coming months ago after the news was squeaked out by a Journal Gazette reporter during a routine interview with those “Hardball Guys.”
It’s only naturally that a new ownership group considers a re-branding, but don’t you typically not re-brand successful firms? It seems to me that the Wizards continue to set new attendance records and while I still hold the opinion that the team needs to move up to Double-A and get out of the affiliation with the San Diego Padres, I think the team name is just fine.
The community picked the name in the first place, so …
In 2009, Fort Wayne will recieve a windfall of $40 million from the City Light Lease fund. As promised in your campaign, the public will be consulted. I ask that you don’t spend a dime of that money.
Let’s say we spend that money on another huge project all at once, if that project flops we’re out the money and the reserve that could have been hundreds of millions in the future.
If invested at a conservative rate of 8% (not even close to the markets average of 12%), that money will generate a return of over $3,000,000 – so lets be conservative and use half of that to provide city services. We’ll add money to the pot and Fort …
While this wasn’t the most exciting part of the Obama event (I enjoyed his town hall portion much more) here is the official Barack Obama speech from this morning in Fort Wayne.
