Obama Cabinet: State, Homeland, Agriculture, Interior

This is the first in a series of posts I will make on the Obama cabinet in the next few days.

State

Hillary Clinton – Senator Clinton appears to have a lock on the job if she’d like it; however, I’m not convinced she will accept the position. The Secretary of State position would give her enormous experience points in foreign policy, but I think the Senate is still the place for her if she is even thinking about running in 2016. But the other question is will the offer still stand after the Obama team finishing digging up dirt on Bill Clinton’s dealings – he’s quite a lot of baggage.
Senator John Kerry – The runner up for the job and possible …

Daniels’ lottery plan fails Hoosiers

Last week Republican Governor Mitch Daniels proposed privatizing the state lottery to pay for his proposed Hoosier College Promise scholarship program. The program offers Indiana residents two years free tution at Ivy Tech Community College or $6,000 to attend another college. Of course, we can’t afford to give this offer to everyone so the program will only be available to those who earn less than $60,000. Sounds great, right?

I’m all for helping people who are on the lower rung of the economic spectrum get ahead and become highly successful individuals (not saying success is measured by an income lesser or greater than $60,000, but I think you get my point). However, Daniels program of privatizing the lottery to pay for …

Montagano’s First TV Spot

This is Third District Democratic Congressional Candidate Michael Montagano’s first commercial. Here’s some reasons why it is effective in fulfilling its objective:

Increase Name Recognition

Mike’s a great guy and will make an excellent congressman – but he needs to up his name recognition throughout the district. Heís been everywhere during the last few months ñ from the many festivals that take place in almost every Hoosier town during the summer to the various Democratic Party gatherings all over the district, he has diligently went out and met with the people and introduce himself personally to residents of the Third District (something his opponent has not had the …

Is a Hoosier Senator the next VP choice?

With Obama dragging out his selection process for at least few more weeks, we’ve still got plenty of time to speculate about the myriad of potential candidates, but recently Indiana Senator Evan Bayh has been thrust into the spotlight as a likely choice for the VP nominations. Add to the fact that John Edwards is essentially out of the picture with his recent spectacle, Bayh has all the more chance of landing the job.

Bayh made a joint appearance with Obama last week in Indiana and appeared opposite Joe Lieberman on Fox News Sunday arguing vehemently in favor of Obama’s policies and giving that ever-so-famous non-answer to the …

Indiana plays a role in Presidential Politics!?!

obama_sign.JPGIndiana hasn’t gone to a Democrat since Johnson in 1964. It hasn’t mattered in candidate selection in past presidential years because of the date of its primary. But we all know 2008 is unlike any past presidential election year in modern times.
Last nightís results in the Democratic contest in Mississippi only reemphasize the sentiments that have been discussed since the Texas/Ohio behemoth of a political contestñ
Congrats Indiana – you matter!

Since Senator Obama did not give a knock out blow to Senator Clintonís campaign on March 4 and since Obama bounced back from the Clinton victory in the Ohio and Texas primaries with …
