If you didn’t notice, yesterday was Super Tuesday. The big news yesterday was the “Huckacomeback.”
Mike Huckabee was considered to be the John Edwards of the Republican Party. You know, the I’m in the race, but not really type of candidate. The only problem with that notation is that Huckabee nearly won several states. His big loss was Missouri, that hurt. Big time. My good friend and fellow political junkie Chris Wright has been instrumental in getting our coverage of politics for the Caucus. Here are a few thoughts on our whirlwind experience.
For me, this was an eventful and life changing experience. Going into this week, I had only met a few of the candidates. Earlier in the summer, I traveled out to Iowa to attend the Iowa state fair. I ended up, after the long weekend was done, meeting Barack Obama, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson. I thought that week was good, but nothing could have prepared me for the 5 days I have spent here in Iowa. …

Today was a big day, and we had big ambitions for the day at its advent. We planned to go to three different Caucus related events ñ one for Senator Hillary Clinton at the Gateway Hotel, one for former Senator John Edwards at Iowa Stateís Memorial Union and one for former Governor Mike Huckabee at the Val Air Ballroom in Des Moines. Each spot gave us unique opportunities to interact with candidates as they scratch out every single possible vote from caucus goers. In each case, we were successful in our venture.

The Drive
The ride out to Iowa took a lot longer than I had originally anticipated. Chris, Tyler and I were on the road for over 8 hours, driving around the Chicagoland area then through the flat (and by ëflatí I mean nothing as far as the eye could see at times) counties of Western Illinois. By the time we reached the Mississippi River Bridge that took us into Iowa the snow had begun to fall hard. Dump trucks sat poised in the median ready to salt and plow the snow. Even with these trucks, there were a myriad of overturned vehicles in the median, including one semi truck.
