My Presidential Struggle

As many of you know I define myself a a Moderate Republican focusing on low taxes (especially corporate & capital gains). Tax & Economic Policy are the chief issues for me, and I share that belief with many of my fellow Americans.

This election is posing a problem for me that goes beyond issues and rhetoric. I have yet to decide upon a candidate, I’m struggling internally and I haven’t found the answer just yet.

If I take a straight take on issues I probably agree with John McCain more than Senator Obama. But taking an honest look at both men, they’ll both do a fine job. Neither one is going to ruin America, we’ll be fine no matter who is elected.

My …

Bailout 2008 - What should we do?

I’ve spent hours combing over articles in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNN, and blogs. It seems to me that this Paulson Plan is pretty far from getting any sort of okay from Congress, and I honestly hope it stays that way. Purchasing all this costs way too much money when all we really need to do is get the market for this stuff moving.

Of everything I’ve read, I find the proposal of top economist, Brian Wesbury. The plan has been most promoted by Dave Ramsey, the “Get out of Debt Guy.” While I sometimes question Dave’s macroeconomic theories, I think he’s made an excellent choice in going towards Brian’s (and likely other economists’) plan.

The Convention: Part 1

As I type this Barack Obama has walked on stage and is giving his acceptance speech. All I can think of right now “I wish I was at Invesco Field.”

That however, was impossible. I couldn’t start school, help put out the first issue of the Bachelor, my school paper and attend the convention at the same time (although I most definitely would if I could).
So I’m settling for the next best thing. Tomorrow I will be driving ten hours to Minneapolis-Saint Paul for the Republican National Convention. I’ll be working for NBC as a “runner.” Although there really wasn’t …

The Trouble with Joe Biden

Lacking Experience?

No! Not Joe Biden, he’s got more experience than math has numbers. It’s his running mate, who even he has expressed concerns about.

Joe Biden has been on record stating that Barack Obama doesn’t have the experience necessary to become the President. With his most recent ad John McCain clearly will begin to make this a focal point of the campaign. Obama is going to have to work unbelievably hard to dispel this belief that apparently even his running mate agreed with McCain on this one.

Now one could argue that Biden made the statement trying to defeat Obama in a heated primary, that’s certainly true…but he still made the …

Congratulations to Senator Biden

Political Equinox wishes its full congratulations to Senator Joe Biden for his selection as Senator Barack Obama’s running mate.

While Patrick is considerably more comfortable with the pick then I currently am, I’ll keep an open mind and continue to listen to the candidates, as I’m still undecided.

And yes, we were both up in the middle of the night when the leak was confirmed - junkies, I know. We’re guilty as charged.
