Ok. It’s re-he-he-eally early to discuss the presidential election of 2012. I’ve been one to bemoan those who rush into an election season too early, but I cannot help but applaud the politically shrewd move in Obama eliminating the only Republican that would have a shot at beating him. Moderate, youthful, Mandarin fluent Utah Governor John Huntsman will forego his foray onto the national political stage for at least another presidential election cycle. While this is at first glance a victory for Obama, this may actually help moderate Republicans in the long run. When Obama is no longer president, the still young Huntsman may be in the best position …

Grown tired of the phrases “failed Bush economic policies” and “the last 8 years of this administration” have I, or at least my inner Yoda rebukes the continual repetition of these soon to be cliche phrases.
Even as we, America, rush to force our President of the past decade out of office, we must pause and take a moment to reflect and examine Mr. Bush’s administration. We must look deeply and analytically to discover the true gift has Bush’s presidency has offered our country and President-elect Obama. The current situation, the state of our country, most notably our economy is not the fault of George Bush, it is not the fault of the Democrats, the Republicans, the Libertarians, the bankers, or …

Defense
Defense Secretary Robert Gates – It is extremely likely that current secretary will stay on to see the downsizing of operations in Iraq. It appears that the major holdup in this scenario is that gates wants some of his people to stay on.
Senator Chuck Hagel – Hagel appears to be the leading candidate to replace Robert gates should he choose not to return to serve in the Obama administration. You can hardly argue with Hagel’s experience and readiness for the job which includes work in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Hagel could also be a Republican in Obama’s cabinet, which experts say he should have at least one in order to hold his promise of change by not picking all …

This is a response to “The Obama Agenda” by Paul Krugman.
Mr. Krugman:
I must respectfully disagree with you. I am not calling on Obama to be “a do-nothing president.” I am calling on him to maintain a left-center tone throughout his presidency. The voters have given him a mandate not on healthcare, not on the economy, not on the war, but on his ability to unify, to lead, to solve the problems our nation faces. As much as conservatives like to claim, Obama did not run on a socialist ideology. I’m sick of hearing that, Barack Obama is not a socialist. He ran left (not socialist left) at the start, then centered a lot. If you aren’t convinced use archive.org …

Over the past few weeks I’ve heard Barack Obama and other Democratic leaders speak out against “privatizing” Social Security. Now, I’m not sure if privatizing the program is the best way to go, I think we’ve got an awful lot more work to do with regards to that subject. But there is one thing I am sure of, these same people speaking out are railing that Republicans want to gamble with the future of Americans by putting this money into the stock market.
Investing in the stock market is absolutely not gambling. In fact, it’s not even close. Over the past one hundred years, every 10 year period in the stock market has made a positive return (even during the great …
