I have made my selection. I know in my heart and head that I’ve got this one right. I hadn’t gotten to that point until last night and I decided to sleep on it.
I’ll leave you with this statement:
I apoligize to my fellow Republicans, but not to myself and certainly not to my country.

As many of you know I define myself a a Moderate Republican focusing on low taxes (especially corporate & capital gains). Tax & Economic Policy are the chief issues for me, and I share that belief with many of my fellow Americans.
This election is posing a problem for me that goes beyond issues and rhetoric. I have yet to decide upon a candidate, I’m struggling internally and I haven’t found the answer just yet.
If I take a straight take on issues I probably agree with John McCain more than Senator Obama. But taking an honest look at both men, they’ll both do a fine job. Neither one is going to ruin America, we’ll be fine no matter who is elected.

A 2000 Republican National Committee Ad railing against Al Gore for proposing new spending. It’s amazing how a few years changes everything. Just goes to show how disappointed many of us Republicans are with the way our party has gone over the past four years in terms of it’s total disregard for fiscal responsibility.

In order to understand the failure, we should first look at where this plan originated - the Bush Administration. This was a brokered bill; nonetheless, the original framework for the bailout was crafted by the Administration, lead by Treasury Secretary Paulson. Like virtually anything that could had had a chance of passing the Untied States Congress, the final iteration of the bill was a compromise through and through. As I type this Barack Obama has walked on stage and is giving his acceptance speech. All I can think of right now “I wish I was at Invesco Field.”
That however, was impossible. I couldn’t start school, help put out the first issue of the Bachelor, my school paper and attend the convention at the same time (although I most definitely would if I could).
So I’m settling for the next best thing. Tomorrow I will be driving ten hours to Minneapolis-Saint Paul for the Republican National Convention. I’ll be working for NBC as a “runner.” Although there really wasn’t …
